Kaili (make of car)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kaili (also written Kai Li, Kai-Li, Kai-li or KaiLi) was a planned car brand or sub-brand from the People's Republic of China .

description

It is an automobile brand designed for electric cars by the joint venture company FAW-Volkswagen . The English name of the brand is "Carely". It was created in a joint venture between Volkswagen and the Chinese company China FAW Group (FAW). The license for this was granted by the Chinese authorities in May 2011. The car brand named after the city of Kaili was planned to be positioned in the middle class , unlike previous electric car concepts from VW, which were primarily designed for small cars .

The Kaili brand electric car listed in a bulletin under the code name "FV7002" was interpreted as a derivative of the "VW Bora blue-e-motion", which was presented in December 2010 at the eighth China (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibition ( Guangzhou Auto Show ) was shown to the public. The battery-electric powered car, interpreted as a derivative of the “VW Bora blue-e-motion”, was due to hit the Chinese market in late 2013 or early 2014. According to plans, the model based on the “eBora” was to be built in large-scale production ex works in Changchun in Jilin Province . Even in October 2013, a prototype belonging to the aforementioned development project was presented at an auto show for alternative drives in Beijing. The model was supposed to be launched later as the "Carely E88 EV". But in November 2013 this project was put on hold, even though the prototype had already been fully developed. Volkswagen cited the reason that there was a lack of prospective buyers and electric charging stations.

In 2014, it was reported that the brand has not yet been launched due to a lack of interest.

At the end of 2019 / beginning of 2020, a revised version of the “VW e-Bora” model, i.e. under the Volkswagen core brand, will be launched on the Chinese market.
