Kalinovo (Hungarian Kálnó ) is a municipality in central Slovakia . It is located in the Lučenská kotlina on the Lučenec – Utekáč railway line and on the Ipeľ river , between the towns of Poltár (9 km) and Lučenec (10 km).
The place was first mentioned in 1279 as Kalnov (part of the municipality Hrabovo as early as 1271 as Garab ).
In the village there is a Protestant church from the 13th century, rebuilt in the 18th century.
In addition to the main town, the municipality also includes the places Hrabovo (incorporated in 1960) and Petrovec .
