The canton of La Machine was a French canton in the arrondissement Nevers in the Nièvre department and in the Burgundy region until 2015 ; its main town was La Machine . Daniel Barbier ( PS ) was the last representative in the General Council from 1998 to 2015 .

The canton was 129.4 km² and had 7,505 inhabitants (as of 1999). It was on average at 222 meters above sea ​​level , between 177 m ( Béard ) and 297 m ( Sougy-sur-Loire ).
