The canton Ziegenhain was an administrative unit in the Hersfeld district of the Werra department in the Napoleonic Kingdom of Westphalia . The main town of the canton and seat of the justice of the peace was the town of Ziegenhain , since 1970 part of Schwalmstadt in today's Schwalm-Eder district . The canton comprised a city and 11 villages and hamlets, had 3,832 residents, and an area of 1.62 square miles .
