The canton Neumorschen was an administrative unit in the Hersfeld district of the Werra department in the Napoleonic kingdom of Westphalia . The main place of the canton and seat of the justice of the peace was the place Neumorschen , today part of Morschen in the Schwalm-Eder district . The canton comprised 18 villages and hamlets, had 5,288 inhabitants and an area of 2.25 square miles .
