The canton Homberg was an administrative unit in the Hersfeld district of the Werra department in the Napoleonic kingdom of Westphalia . The city of Homberg (Efze) in today's Schwalm-Eder district was the main town of the canton and the seat of the justice of the peace . The canton comprised 22 villages and hamlets and a city, had 7,177 inhabitants and an area of 2.13 square miles .
