Remsfeld is the administrative center and with about 1200 inhabitants the largest district of the municipality Knüllwald in the Schwalm-Eder district in Hesse (Germany).

location

The place is in the northern part of the Knüllgebirge on the Efze . At the eastern edge to the connection point Homberg (Efze) of the Highway 7 ; the federal highway 323 provides a connection to the district town of Homberg, which is a good 5 km northwest.

The district of the place is characterized by both agricultural land and mixed forest.

history

Christ Church

Remsfeld was first mentioned in a document in 1108 as "Rimegozesfelt". The village has been a parish village since at least 1248.

Around 1350 the village of Remsfeld was pledged by Landgrave Heinrich II of Hesse to Simon von Homberg.

In 1480 a fire destroyed the Remsfeld church and almost the entire village. The church was then rebuilt in its current location. In 1490, 16 "defensive men" were counted in Remsfeld. Remsfeld belonged to the office of the same name.

From 1510 Remsfeld belonged to the office of Homberg and to the court on the forest . The church patronage had in 1523 the Lords of Holzheim held. The churches of Schellbach, Reddingshausen and Welferode were branches of the church of Remsfeld in 1525. In 1537 the place had 40 houses. Adam Gössel (1523–1538?) Is named as the first Protestant pastor. From 1569 the Trott zu Solz had patronage for the Remsfeld church. From 1575 the church in Völkershain became a branch of the church in Remsfeld.

In the years 1575 and 1585, 64 house seats were registered in Remsfeld . In the Thirty Years War, the number of residents fell sharply due to the acts of war. In 1639, only 29 house seats were counted. Around 1697 the head vine of the court at the forest had its residence in Remsfeld.

In 1742 there were 81 houses in Remsfeld. The patronage for the church passed to the Landgrave of Hessen-Kassel in 1747 .

During the Napoleonic Kingdom of Westphalia , Remsfeld belonged to the canton and peace court of Homberg. After the restoration of the Electorate of Hesse in 1814, the place again belonged to the Office of Homberg. After the administrative reform of the Electorate of Hesse in 1821, Remsfeld then belonged to the district and justice office of Homberg. In 1834 the place had 549 inhabitants. After being incorporated into Prussia in 1867, Remsfeld belonged to the district and district court of Homberg.

On June 20, 1905, the "Turnverein Gut Heil 05 Remsfeld" was founded. Today's TSV 05 Remsfeld eV developed from him

In 1932 the Fritzlar and Homberg districts were combined to form the Fritzlar-Homberg district. The municipality of Remsfeld became part of the new district. In 1939 the village had 755 inhabitants.

On June 6, 1961, 1119 inhabitants were counted in Remsfeld, and 1134 inhabitants on May 27, 1970.

On December 31, 1971, the municipality of Remsfeld was dissolved and the village became part of the newly formed municipality of Knüllwald. Since January 1st, 1974 the municipality Knüllwald and with it Remsfeld belong to the newly formed Schwalm-Eder-Kreis.

The former Martinsklause restaurant from Remsfeld was moved to Hessenpark .
