Schellbach is a district of the municipality Knüllwald in the Schwalm-Eder district in northern Hesse .

Geographical location

Schellbach is located in the northern foothills of the Knüllgebirge about 1.5 km southwest of Remsfeld (seat of the municipal administration). The Efze tributary Schellbach and the district road  39 and in the eastern Efzetal the federal highway 7 run through the village . The Streuflingskopf (approx.  413  m above sea  level ) with an observation tower and north of the Allmutsberg ( 463.1  m above sea level ) rises in the Knüll wildlife park to the west-southwest of the village .

history

The village "Scilpach" was first mentioned in writing in a document from the Spieskappel monastery from 1196.

On December 31, 1971, Schellbach was merged with eight other communities to form the new community of Knüllwald.
