Kari Aalvik Grimsbø (born January 4, 1985 in Bergen , Norway ) is a former Norwegian handball player . She played at Győri ETO KC in the highest Hungarian league and in the Norwegian national handball team .
Career
Grimsbø started playing handball at Børsa / Skaun when he was five. After the goalkeeper was then active for Orkdal, she moved to Byåsen IL . With Byåsen she was in the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2007 , but failed there at the Romanian representative CS Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea . From summer 2010 she was under contract with the Danish first division team Esbjerg . From the beginning of November 2012, Grimsbø was on maternity leave. For the 2013/14 season she returned to the Esbjerg goal. In January 2015 she moved to the Hungarian club Győri ETO KC . With Győri she won the Hungarian Cup in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019, the Hungarian Championship in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 and the EHF Champions League in 2017, 2018 and 2019 . She ended her career after the 2019/20 season. She then became a goalkeeping coach at Byåsen IL.
Grimsbø completed 173 games for the Norwegian selection. With the Norwegian team, she won the European Championship in 2006 , 2008 , 2010 , 2014 and 2016 . After the first game of the European Championship in 2014, she was injured. At the 2007 World Cup in France, she was runner-up. A year later she won the gold medal at the Olympic Games . She was part of the squad of her national association at the 2009 World Cup in China . She won the world title at the 2011 World Cup and 2015 World Cup. In the summer of 2012, Grimsbø again took part in the Olympic Games in London , where they again won the gold medal. She was also elected to the tournament's All-Star Team. She won the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . A year later she won the silver medal at the World Cup in Germany .
