Karl August von Wittich (born May 10, 1772 in Rudow , † November 21, 1831 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian major general and most recently the commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade .

His parents were the preacher von Rudow, Gottfried Lorenz von Wittich (* January 27, 1735; † 1807), and his wife Christiane Margarethe Wilhelmine, née Bock († July 5, 1798).

Military career

Wittich came to the page corps in Berlin on March 31, 1786 , from there on March 3, 1789 as a corporal in the infantry regiment "Alt-Bornstedt" of the Prussian army . After the war, Wittich was promoted to adjutant to Colonel von Thümen on August 19, 1809 with half salary and to captain on November 19, 1809 . On April 11, 1811, he was appointed adjutant . In the same year he was promoted to colonel on September 19, 1818 with a patent from October 1, 1818. On May 29, 1821, he was transferred to the 1st Infantry Brigade as commander, but received permission on July 20, 1821 to continue to wear the uniform of the 15th Infantry Regiment. On January 18, 1825 Wittich received the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class and on June 18, 1825 also the service cross . On March 31, 1826, he celebrated his 50th anniversary with the company. On March 30, 1827 he was promoted to major general with a patent from April 1, 1827. He died of cholera on November 21, 1831 in Königsberg .
