Karl Christoph von Plötz (* 1711 in Pomerania; † November 15, 1776 in Stargard ) was a royal Prussian major general , chief of infantry regiment No. 22 and governor of Bublitz .

Life

Origin and family

His parents were the heir to Moratz . Hans Ernst von Plötz († 1735) and Barbara Juliane, born von Witten (1683–1732). Karl Christoph von Plötz remained unmarried.

Military career

Plötz was a non-commissioned officer or, in 1727, a private corporal in regiment no. 22. He was promoted to ensign in 1735 and second lieutenant in 1740 . in the First Silesian War he took part in the battle of Mollwitz and the siege of Neisse . For the Second Silesian War he was placed as adjutant general to the regiment chief Moritz von Anhalt-Dessau . In the campaign itself he took part in the siege of Prague , the battles at Hohenfriedeberg and Kesselsdorf . In 1746 he was released from his position as adjutant and was assigned to the regiment as a prime lieutenant with a patent from 1745. He was promoted to staff captain in 1750 , captain and company commander in 1752 and major in 1754 . During the Seven Years' War he took part in the siege near Pirna and the battles near Kolin , Leuthen , Torgau and Burkersdorf . He was first commander of his regiment in 1760 , then received the order Pour le Mérite and finally his promotion to lieutenant colonel . In 1762 he was promoted to colonel on the Burkersdorf battlefield . On June 13, 1766, he was also given the authority of Bublitz . In August 1767 he was appointed major general. In March 1767 he was given regiment No. 22.

He took part in all the campaigns under Frederick II and was very popular with his soldiers, so many are said to have been very touched at his funeral.
