Karl Freiherr von Moreau

Karl Freiherr von Moreau (born July 10, 1916 in Munich ; † January 28, 1997 in Kleeberg) was a landowner in Kleeberg and a politician ( CSU ).

Moreau was born as the son of the Royal Bavarian Chamberlain Friedrich Freiherr von Moreau and his Erika, born. Countess Geldern-Egmont was born. Friedrich Freiherr von Moreau was the owner of Kleeberg Castle near Ruhstorf an der Rott , which the family had bought in 1881 from Alois Freiherr Weiß von Starkenfels . Karl Freiherr von Moreau completed his school education at the Humanist High School in Passau . He was first lieutenant in the Wehrmacht in World War II. After the death of his father in 1946, he was the owner of Kleeberg Castle. As a representative of the CSU , he sat in the district assembly of Lower Bavaria and became district assembly vice-president. From 1970 to 1978 he was President of the District Assembly of Lower Bavaria. As such, Moreau was significantly involved in the development of the Lower Bavarian spa triangle , the Bavarian Forest National Park , the University of Passau and in the expansion and modernization of the Mainkofen district hospital .

He was the brother of the aviator Rudolf Freiherr von Moreau and the Passau music director Hermann Freiherr von Moreau . In 1948 he married Maria Theresia (Maresa) Freifrau von Twickel in Ettal.

In 1987 he handed over Kleeberg Castle to his nephew Dr. Karl Benedikt Freiherr von Moreau. In Ruhstorf an der Rott , Karl-von-Moreau-Strasse is named after him.
