Karl Leberecht von dem Bussche (born February 28, 1707 in Magdeburg , † May 17, 1782 in Juliusburg ) was a Prussian colonel and commander of the grenadier battalion of the same name .

Life

origin

He came from the old Westphalian noble family von dem Bussche . His parents were Lebrecht von dem Bussche (1666-1715) and his wife Eva Charlotte, née von Flemming (1684-1743). His father was originally a Prussian colonel, then switched to Russian services and became General Commander of Riga . His mother was a daughter of Field Marshal General Heino Heinrich von Flemming and Dorothea Elisabeth, born von Pfuel .

Military career

He entered Prussian service at the age of 14 and in 1741 was transferred to the newly established fusilier regiment "von Dohna-Schlodien" as a staff captain . From 1745 he took part in the campaigns under King Friedrich II . In 1750 he switched to Saxon services , but returned to Prussian in 1756. In 1759 of the Seven Years' War , Bussche was appointed commander of a grenadier battalion that arose from the grenadier companies of the garrison regiments "von Quadt" and "von Lattorf" . In this position he rose to lieutenant colonel on January 29, 1761 . In 1764 he was dismissed as colonel, received a pardon and died on May 17, 1782 in Juliusburg in Silesia .
