Karl Ludwig von Normann

Karl Ludwig von Normann (born April 22, 1705 in Werder , Demmin district , † April 23, 1780 in Neuwedell ) was a Prussian major general , chief of the Dragoon Regiment No. 1 , knight of the Pour le Mérite and heir to Neuwedell, Nemischhof, Mienicken, Neu-Cörmitz and Silberberg.

His father was Philipp Martin von Normann , heir to Werder in the Demmin and Treptow districts.

Military career

From March 1722 Normann was initially a cadet in Berlin and on August 22, 1723 he was employed as a Junker in the regiment of the King of the Prussian Army . As a second lieutenant in September 1725 he joined the "von Platen" dragoon regiment and was promoted to staff captain . For a short time, Normann was from February to April 1741 as a company commander in the "von der Schulenburg" dragoon regiment and then joined the "von Bissing" dragoon regiment . During the First Silesian War , Normann took part in the Battle of Mollwitz and after the victorious outcome was commissioned to bring the captured Austrian standards to Frederick II in Ohlau . In the following years he rose further, became colonel in July 1749 and received the post of regimental commander in September 1753. In this position promoted to major general on May 20, 1755, the king appointed him shortly afterwards on June 2 as chief of the "von Alemann" dragoon regiment. In the 1756/60 campaign , Normann fought near Lobositz and Prague . For his achievements during the Battle of Kolin , Normann was awarded the order Pour le Mérite .

He dimitted on April 5, 1761 with a considerable salary of grace .

family

Normann had married Amalie von Waldow in 1735 . The son Philipp Christian entered service in Württemberg .
