Karl Wolfgang von Frankenberg and Ludwigsdorf (* 6. December 1730 in wound contactor ; † 18th May 1791 in Green Mountain ) was a Prussian Major General , Knight of the Order Pour le Mérite and Amtshauptmann in Freienwalde and New Hagen and hereditary lord of Hirschfelde, Küpper and Droscheyde.

Life

origin

His parents were Hans Wolf von Frankenberg (* July 25, 1686; † October 26, 1756) and his wife Johanna Helene von Schimonska from the Uschitz family. Major general Christian Moritz Alexander von Frankenberg and Ludwigsdorf was his brother.

Military career

In 1742 he became a page with the Count von Münchow (1712–1753), the minister in charge of Silesia. He then joined the army. On October 1st, 1746 he became an ensign in the Dragoon Regiment "Nassau" No. 11 . On September 22, 1750 he became second lieutenant and on September 3, 1756 prime lieutenant . In the Seven Years' War he fought at Pretsch and in the battles of Prague , Kolin , Leuthen and Hochkirch . In the battle near Sommerfeld he was seriously injured in the right hand. On September 19, 1758, he was promoted to staff captain. In the battle near Kemberg in 1759 he was able to capture Field Marshal Lieutenant Reinhard von Gemmingen-Hornberg , for which he received the order Pour le Mérite.

It was not until September 15, 1770 that he was promoted to captain and squadron chief. Three years later, he was promoted to major . He then took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On September 29, 1782 he was promoted to regimental commander and as such on May 30, 1783 to lieutenant colonel and on March 4, 1786 to colonel . In addition, on December 8, 1786, he received the post of governor in Freienwalde and Neuenhagen. On September 29, 1788 he was also General Inspector of the Lower Silesian Cavalry Inspection. In addition, he received from the king from October 30, 1788 an allowance of 500 thalers. The promotion to major general took place on August 18, 1790.

He was married several times. His first wife was Christiane Wilhelmine Ulrike von Massow in January 1763 (born December 13, 1746 in Brieg, † 1771 in Grünberg). The couple had a son:
