Karlheinz Götz (* 1941 ) is a German entrepreneur and historian .

Life

Karlheinz Götz began teacher training at the University of Education in Regensburg in 1960 , which he successfully completed. After 17 years of teaching, he quit school, trained as a building cleaner and runs the company he had taken over from his parents.

Götz is on the supervisory board of the service company of the same name, founded in 1949 as Blitz-Blank K. Götz , with around 15,000 employees. The Götz group of companies, based in Regensburg and Chemnitz, works in the field of facility management in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Canada. The Götz Group's customers with over 90 individual companies include universities, clinics, industrial companies and public administration. In addition to the traditional core business of facility management, he established the group of companies with hospital-related services such as food supply, laundry management, pick-up and delivery services and patient support. He also expanded the Götz group in the areas of personnel services and organizational development.

In 2004, 2005 and 2008 the company was named one of the fastest growing companies in Bavaria by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology .

In 2005 he was at the Institute of Education Sciences of the Spanish University of Oviedo with the work Development of Education in the Upper Palatinate and the free imperial city of Regensburg to 1810 and in Salzburg until 1816 to Dr. phil. PhD . This is controversial.

Karlheinz Götz is married to Gertraud Götz and has two children. In 2011 he left the company's board of directors.

Act

Götz has been a Familiar of the Teutonic Order since 1977 . Since 1993 he has been chairman of the board of directors of the Deutschordenshaus St. Elisabeth in Nuremberg. In Regensburg he has been deputy chairman of the board of directors of the Deutschordenshaus St. Josef retirement and nursing home since 1978. Since 2005, the Deutschordenhaus has operated another home in Regensburg, the Albertinum. In July 2008 Götz was appointed to the management of the Deutschordenshaus Regensburg Betriebs-GmbH, Regensburg, and has been its sole managing director since May 2012. The object of the company is in particular the operation of old people's and nursing homes and other social facilities.

From 1999 to 2007, Karlheinz Götz was chairman of the old gentlemen's association and chairman of the CV council of the Cartell Association of Catholic German Student Associations (CV), an association with over 30,000 academics. He has been a member of KDStV Rupertia Regensburg and other CV connections since 1960. Since 2009 he has been an honorary member of the Catholic Technical Student Union Pontana in the TCV .

In 2007 he was elected German master of the Ballei Deutschland of the Familiar of the Teutonic Order and at the same time chairman of the Deutschherrenbund.

Götz supports numerous institutions such as the University of Regensburg through the Regensburg University Foundation "Pro Uni PR" which he founded. He is also involved in the Association of Catholic Entrepreneurs (BKU) and as a member of the board of the Regensburger Domspatzen cultural foundation .

According to his information, Karlheinz Götz has been supporting the legionaries of Christ for years and frequented the headquarters of the order in Rome.

Criticism and criminal proceedings

At the end of 1985, after a criminal complaint, extensive public prosecution investigations were initiated against the Götz company. There was suspicion of systematic social security fraud, embezzlement of wage and church taxes, price fixing, bribery, illegal temporary employment to the city of Regensburg and falsification of payrolls. In this context, it was also announced that an identical investigation into a settlement payment had already been discontinued in 1981. Only in March 1989 the proceedings against Götz against the payment of 180,000 DM were stopped. In the meantime, after a settlement, Götz had to transfer DM 4,250,000 to the Regensburg AOK retrospectively. The discontinuation of the proceedings was criticized in press reports: it was "not a glory of the Regensburg judiciary".

From 2004 to 2010 Götz was chairman of a sponsoring association made up of lay members of the "Teutonic Order". This association was responsible for the Sankt Elisabeth retirement and nursing home in Nuremberg. According to press reports, the more than 200 employees were harassed and put under pressure by the club's management so that they "forego a substantial part of their income". The sponsoring association is "a prime example of the unabashed abuse of fear of losing one's job". After a series of labor lawsuits, the home was sold.

Plagiarism allegation

In January 2014 the dissertation was reviewed by Karlheinz Götz and characterized as plagiarizing and unscientific based on numerous examples. In this context, the historian Walter Fürnrohr rated Götz's citation as “scandalous”. According to Hans-Michael Körner , a retired history didactic from LMU , no doctoral supervisor would have accepted this doctoral thesis in Germany because he would have embarrassed himself with a product of this quality. Körner rated the dissertation as a "limitless thrust". Missing footnotes and sources are noted.
The plagiarism allegation against Götz was repeated by regensburg-digital and documented with further examples. According to research, Götz deposited two different, self-printed versions of his doctoral thesis in public libraries.

At the beginning of February, Karlheinz Götz spoke up and defended the dissertation that he had personally written. Götz declared that he did not quote without naming the source. "No money flowed" to the University of Oviedo. He completed a “proper doctoral procedure” and at the end gave a “50-minute specialist lecture on the topic of the dissertation in Spanish”. The following two-hour questioning by the members of the examination board he managed with the help of a translator.
According to a statement from the University of Oviedo, the dissertation complies with the conditions set by the doctoral committee.
The Süddeutsche Zeitung, on the other hand, reported at the beginning of February 2014 that the library directory of the University of Oviedo had since been changed and that a German version of Götz's dissertation was now also listed. According to information from the Süddeutsche Zeitung, members of the examination committee could not prove any specialist knowledge of the Bavarian school system.
