Kasper Dietlof von Winterfeld (* around 1672 at Gut Kutzerow (today: Uckerland ); † January 12, 1725 in Pillau ) was a royal Prussian colonel and chief of garrison battalion No. 2 .

His parents are Adam Valentin von Winterfeld († May 20, 1677) and Elisabeth Charlotte von Hacke . He is an older brother of Major General Georg Levin von Winterfeld .

Life

In 1687 he entered the service of Brandenburg and joined Infantry Regiment No. 2 . His battalion took part in the Palatine War of Succession from 1691 . He became an ensign in April 1694 , fought at Huy and in 1695 when taking Namur . In May 1696 he became a second lieutenant . In 1697 the regiment was transferred back from Flanders to Memel . In 1701 he was the third lieutenant and continued with the first battalion in Memel.

On May 31, 1703 he became a captain . The regiment had to surrender two companies and recruit two new ones, and Winterfeld also received its own company. This came under Winterfeld to the second battalion, which was now involved in the War of the Spanish Succession . The second was moved to Frankfurt an der Oder at the end of May 1705 and joined the army under Georg Abraham von Arnim for the siege of Haguenau . In 1706 it was in the Mark and in 1707 he was part of the army under Philipp Karl von Wylich and Lottum in the Netherlands. It is found in 1708 in the battle of Oudenaarde and the siege of Lille , in 1709 in the siege of Tournay and in the battle of Malplaquet . On March 16, 1709 Winterfeld was promoted to major . In 1710 he was present at the siege of Douai and the battle of Liège.

In 1711 the battalion marched in the army of Marlborough and on August 11th built camp at Avesne le Sec . The fortress Bouchain , which was then enclosed, surrendered on September 15th. With the peace it was ordered back to Prussia. It first came to Prenzlau in October and to Stargard and Pyritz in the winter of 1711/1712 . Then it marched to Berlin . On May 2, 1713 it paraded at the funeral of Friedrich I. The battalion then returned to Prussia and at the end of August 1714 it was reunited with the first battalion in Memel.

On September 6th, the king came for an inspection and was satisfied. On this occasion, some officers were promoted out of turn, so von Winterfeld became lieutenant colonel on September 7, 1714 . During the Pomeranian campaign of 1715/1716 , the regiment was ordered to Stettin in February 1715 . It reached Stralsund on July 14, 1715 . The first battalion was then assigned to conquer Rügen. Stralsund fortress surrendered on December 22nd, 1715. The regiment returned to Prussia via Kolberg. In 1718 the headquarters was relocated to Rastenburg and in June 1721 to Königsberg in Prussia . On December 6, 1722, Winterfeld became colonel and commander of Pillau, as well as chief of the local garrison battalion no. 2. He died there on January 12, 1725 unmarried. During his life he was not interested in his Kutzerow estate and had already given all rights to his brothers beforehand.
