Geographical location

The Katzenberg rises in the northwest of the Franconian Switzerland-Veldenstein Forest Nature Park on the western edge of Franconian Switzerland  - just under 13 km southeast of Bamberg . Its summit is in the municipality-free area of ​​Eichwald , which extends between the municipal areas of Strullendorf in the north, Buttenheim in the southeast and Hirschaid in the southwest. Counter- clockwise looking at it is located 2 km south-southwest of Zeegendorf , 2 km south-southeast of Mistendorf , 2.7 km southeast of Leesten and 3.5 km east of Wernsdorf , all belonging to Strullendorf, 2.4 km northeast of Friesen , a district von Hirschaid, as well as 700 m north of Kälberberg and 1.6 km west-northwest of Tiefenhöchstadt , which belong to Buttenheim.
