Kennedy Bakırcıoğlu (born November 2, 1980 in Södertälje ) is a Swedish football player of Assyrian / Aramaic descent. The midfielder , who was under contract outside of Sweden in Greece, the Netherlands and Spain, has appeared for the Swedish national team several times since his debut in 2001 .
Career
Career start in Sweden
Bakırcıoğlu, whose father immigrated from Turkey and was one of the founders of Assyriska Föreningen , played at this club when he was young. He made his debut in the Superettan in 1996 and was invited to a trial session by Manchester United a year later .
In 1999 Bakırcıoğlu moved to Hammarby IF in the Allsvenskan . He was able to establish himself in the team straight away and missed only one of the 26 season games in his first season. Due to his constant performance, he played his way into the circle of the national team , where he made his debut on February 1 in the 0-1 defeat against the Finnish national team. In the same year he did not miss a season game in the league. With eight goals, he contributed to the fact that the team around players like Christer Fursth , Andreas Hermansson , Suleyman Sleyman and Jonas Stark could celebrate winning the Swedish championship for the first time in the club history of Hammarby IF.
Bakırcıoğlu appeared in both UEFA Champions League second qualifying round games against Partizan Belgrade but were eliminated after a 1-1 draw and 4-0 loss despite a goal from Fredrik Wisnes . In the league, despite eleven goals this season with the team, he was unable to build on the previous year's success and took ninth place in the table with her. In the 2003 season he led the club with twelve goals to the runner-up behind Djurgårdens IF .

Although Bakırcıoğlu was not one of the regular players at Ajax in 2008, national coach Lars Lagerbäck appointed him in May 2008 as a substitute for Tobias Linderoth, who was injured in the run-up to the tournament, in the Swedish squad for the 2008 European Championship , should he not find shape in time. Ultimately, he was not included in the final squad.
Even after the summer break, Bakırcıoğlu was only one of the supplementary players at Ajax. In December the club decided to reduce its squad from 28 to 24 players. After Bakırcıoğlu was initially associated with a move to Turkey in the summer of 2010, he signed a two-year contract with Spanish first division club Racing Santander in early July . At the side of fellow countryman Markus Rosenberg on loan from Werder Bremen , he established himself as a regular in the club's midfield. In his second year at the club he fell out due to injury, the team rose at the end of the season as bottom of the table in the Segunda División .
Return to Sweden
In the summer of 2012, Bakırcıoğlu moved back to his homeland.
