Kikugawa ( Japanese 菊 川 市 , -shi ) is a city in Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan .

The river Kiku (Kiku-gawa), from which the city takes its name, flows through the urban area.
Kikugawa is located southwest of Shizuoka and east of Hamamatsu on the Makinohara plateau .

Kikugawa is located on the National Road from Gamagori to Makinohara and is also on the Tomei Expressway to reach.
The Kikugawa Station on the Tōkaidō Main Line is of trains of the railway company JR Central operates. From 1899 to 1935, the Horinouchi Railway , an overland tram, operated to Omaezaki .
