history

The place name Kipshoven can probably be traced back to the Franconian names Kippo and Kippiko, which were in use around 800. In the village there is a Gothic Holy Cross Chapel, the construction of which - according to the inscription - dates back to 1492 and is likely to be seen in a direct connection with the former Kipshoven Castle. The two noble families von Beeck and von Agris are connected to the place and the castle; the last family name also gave the street in town its name.

Infrastructure

In July 2010 there were 337 people living in Kipshoven. There is a hotel with seminar and conference rooms, three agr. Companies partly with horse keeping, two gardening and landscaping companies, a building contractor, an engineering office, a flower wholesaler, a plumbing and heating company, a painting company, a joinery, a dental technology company, a cosmetic studio and some small businesses. A school bus stop on the L 127 provides connections to Wegberg, Erkelenz and Mönchengladbach . A children's playground is located in the center of the village.
