Schönhausen is a district of the Mittelstadt Wegberg in the district of Heinsberg in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia .

geography

Schönhausen is located southeast of Wegberg. The Beeck stream flows from Erkelenz coming to southwestern bypassing straight through the village Schoenhausen and empties into Wegberg in the Schwalm . In 1999 the Beeckbach was renatured for flood protection.

history

The first known documentary mention of Schönhausen is in the year 1325. In the local calendar of 1966 the Lords of Moorshoven are described, where on page 44 the place Schönhausen is named with Schonhusen . In 1505 it became Schonesen , in 1554 the place was called Schoinhuissen and in 1669 Schoenhusen .
