The Evangelical Church of Blesewitz is a 14th-century hall church in the district of Blesewitz of the municipality of the same name in Western Pomerania . The Protestant parish has been part of the Pasewalk provost in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany since 2012 . Before that she belonged to the Greifswald parish of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church .

location

The village road runs through the village from the southwest towards the northeast. It branches out several times in the village, including in the middle towards the northwest. In the middle of the existing building stock, the church stands on an area that is fenced in with unlayered and little hewn field stones .

history

Craftsmen first built the rectangular choir from field stones in the 14th century . Inside there are supporting pillars on the west side , so that experts assume that the structure was originally planned as a separate component. About a century later the plastered nave was added to the west . The half- timbered, western and square church tower was added in 1745 and replaced a previous component that was demolished in 1690. During the restoration in 1830, craftsmen broke the windows on the north side and enlarged the south windows.

Building description

View from the northeast

The choir is straight and slightly drawn in. The east wall is closed; On the north and south walls there is an ogival window, the shape of which is emphasized by a light-colored glass . The choir has a simple gable roof .

The nave has a rectangular floor plan. On the south side there is a pointed arch-shaped window and an equally pointed south portal with neo-Gothic door leaves as well as a portico with carved tracery . Two windows on the north side. The craftsmen also built a gable roof on the ship.

At the transition to the west tower , the building was stabilized at its corners by a two-stepped buttress . While the choir and nave were built from field stones, the craftsmen here used a framework made of dark wood, the compartment of which was filled with light reddish bricks . The transverse rectangular tower has a simple, wooden door on its lower storey on the west side. It tapers square on the upper floor. There is also a square sound arcade on each of the three sides that are visible from the outside . The spire has a pyramid roof that ends with a weather vane .

Furnishing

The church furnishings include a three-part altarpiece from around 1700 with carved cheeks, columns and paintings. The predella shows Jesus' Last Supper in a classic sequence , with the crucifixion of Christ in the main field and the risen Christ with the flag of victory as a crown. The pulpit from 1613 is in Renaissance form and has pilasters on the basket basin and a parapet with aedicular frames and a putto . The preacher and patronage stalls date from the same time.

The organ with its neo-Gothic prospect , crab-studded Wimperg and pinnacles was made in 1881 by Barnim Grüneberg from Stettin and extensively restored in 1994. It stands on the west gallery, the cassettes of which - like those of the pulpit - are decorated with stencil paintings from 1949. These are Christian symbols such as Alpha and Omega . The Fünte is a foundation by Michael Heidtmann from 1717. In the interior, the church has a wooden ceiling from the 19th century, which is flat on the sides and raised in the middle in the shape of a pointed barrel.

The bell of the church consists of a bell made in 1450 . In front of the eastern choir wall are three granite epitaphs , which were made in the 19th century.
