history

Klaus is a younger forest workers settlement. In 1627 a hermitage is called in the rear Lassingtal, forestry in the Lassingtal intensified in the 17th century when the Innerberg main trade union built the Lassing rake as a log catcher for timber rafting for the Lassingtal to produce charcoal for the Erzberg . After the advent of hard coal in the 19th century, the area was only used for timber. In 1873 the Rothwaldklause was built as a lattice brace structure upstream of the Lassing, in 1889 the Alpine-Montangesellschaft (successor to the Innerberg trade union) handed over the Wildalpen forestry office to the Styrian Religious Fund . The wood drift disappeared in the early 20th century.

tourism

Today the place lies in the nature reserve Wildalpener Salzatal and in the nature park Steirische Eisenwurzen . The routes into the rear Lassingtal are attractive as a bike tour. From the village you can reach the Tremel ( Tremml1201  m above sea level ), a saddle from which a descent to the north via Windischbachtal and Steinbachtal to Göstling an der Ybbs is possible, or the alpine path as a high-altitude trail west to Hochkar or to East to the Dürrenstein , and on to Lunz am See or Ötscher .
