Klaus Uwe Ludwig
Klaus Uwe Ludwig (born September 16, 1943 in Göttingen ; † December 20, 2019 in Wiesbaden ) was a German church musician and composer .
Life
After graduating from high school, Ludwig studied Protestant church music in Heidelberg , where he passed his A-exam in 1966. 1967 followed the concert diploma with distinction. Professional stations were the Melanchthon Church in Mannheim , the City Church of Kitzingen and the City and District Choir of Regensburg . In 1977 he was appointed church music director. From 1978 to the end of 2008 he worked at the Luther Church in Wiesbaden and was then retired. In Wiesbaden, he founded and led the Bach Choir , the Bach Orchestra and the "Kleine Kantorei", in 2003 the choir was under his leadership the Culture Prize of the City of Wiesbaden awarded. He played world premieres of pieces by Zsolt Gárdonyi , Theo Brandmüller , Harald Genzmer , Claus Kühnl , Rolf Schweizer as well as his own compositions, and has published numerous recordings . He has worked as a concert organist , conductor, singer (bass baritone), pianist , instrument maker , director , arranger , lyricist , author and editor
Works
Ludwig created numerous compositions and published his own recordings. For the children's choir of the Bach Choir he wrote eight Singspiele to texts such as Die Regentrude ( Theodor Storm ), The Story of Kalif Storch ( Wilhelm Hauff ), The Clever Farmer's Daughter ( Brothers Grimm ), The Ghost of Canterville ( Oscar Wilde ), Jocko, the nephew (after The Monkey as Man , Wilhelm Hauff), The Kaiser and the Nightingale (after The Emperor's Nightingale , Hans Christian Andersen ), The Prince and the Swallow (after The Happy Prince , Oscar Wilde) and The Firebird and the scenic cantata Die Heinzelmännchen . Three of these pieces have been released on record .
