The little marriage is a creek with its main upper course Biegenbach about eight, on its name strand about five kilometers long creek in the southern Steigerwald predominantly in the market town of Sugenheim in the Central Franconian district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim , which after about east-southeast run below the Sugenheim parish village of Deutenheim flows from the left into the upper Ehebach .

geography

course

The little marriage arises at about 324  m above sea level. NHN on the southern edge of the parish village of Krassolzheim von Sugenheim from the confluence of the much shorter and less catchment area on the left Riedgraben with the right Biegenbach, which also rises much higher, in whose left lower course meadow the Riedgraben emerges, but then moves far away from this main upstream strand in between. The Biegenbach arises in two headwaters far to the west in the wooded heights of the Steigerwald in the areas of other communities.

The Kleine Ehe flows in a valley basin that is wide and flat almost from the start, initially eastwards, until the Brückleinsbach flowing into it on the Hüllerberg north-west of Krassolzheim flows into it from the left, whose course, like the Riedgraben, runs entirely in the open corridor. Then the little marriage moves east-southeast to the mouth. It will soon reach Ingolstadt, which is mostly on the right bank and on the slope. Thereafter, the Geroldsbach or Gerlesbach from the west-south-west flows into the sewage treatment plant of the Sugenheimer Kirchdorf, which contributes more than half to the catchment area of the little marriage; its origin also lies in the forest mountains in the west. Halfway thereafter to the next parish village of Ezelheim in the municipality on the left bank, the Krautbeetgraben begins on the right in the floodplain of the Krautbeetgraben next to the stream, which runs to the right at the sewage treatment plant to Ezelheim, followed shortly thereafter by the swath ditch from the same side, which, however, is higher into the Hills between Ezelheim and Krautostheim in the upper Ehebach valley arise.

Less than 200 meters further, the Kleine Ehe flows from the left between Deutenheim above and Sugenheim below at about 309  m above sea level. NHN in the Ehebach . The Kleine Ehe, which flows along the course of its name from the confluence of the Biegenbach and Riedgraben rivers, about 4.9 km long with an average bed gradient of only about 3 ‰, flows only 15 meters below this source. If you hit the name branch of the Biegenbach stream towards it, then it is 8.1 km long, has a mean bottom slope of about 5.7 ‰ and flows 46 meters below its source.

The little marriage still flowed in numerous small loops through its wide floodplain in the 19th century, today it has been straightened and the Geroldsbach, which formerly flows into its right floodplain after an underflow just before Ezelheim, reaches it today over half a kilometer further upwards Ingolstadt. Only on short sections - right after Krassolzheim and from Ezelheim to the mouth - a wood gallery accompanies the otherwise bare course, up to which in many places the arable land extends.

Catchment area

The Kleine Ehe has a catchment area of around 34.3 km², which , in terms of natural space , lies in the sub-area of the Southern or Front Steigerwald of the Steigerwald . It is bordered in an arc from west to north to east by forest ridges of the low mountain range and has the lowest watershed to the south with hills often lying in the field.

From the easternmost point at the mouth to about 309  m above sea level. NHN except for the Schopfen north of Krautostheim , the southeastern watershed rises to about 366  m above sea level. NHN , behind the ridge, the Ehenbach takes on its section immediately above the mouth, the drain to the other side. After that, its left tributary Irrbach is the next competitor in the south , initially at a lower altitude from Schopfen to Haberbuck ( 336  m above sea level ) near Seehaus and on to the foot of the Ostsporn, on which the Hohenkottenheim castle ruins are located. There then the southern border rises on the spur and continues in the mountain forest west over the Stellenberg , at 433  m above sea level. NHN the highest mountain in the south, up to the near southwest corner of the catchment area.

There the western watershed begins in the high forest , initially towards the upper Gollach , a Tauber tributary, to the Heidebuck ( 433  m above sea level ), then to the Hohen Landsberg ( 498  m above sea level ) towards its long middle course tributary Riederbach . From there on the rest of the western watershed to 498  m above sea level. NHN high Scheinberg borders the Iff , which feeds the Main via the Breitbach well above the Tauber.

On the Scheinberg the watershed bends to the east and runs on a narrow ridge from Ippesheimer Katzenzipfel ( 441  m above sea level ), Seinsheimer Katzenzipfel ( 459  m above sea level ), Iffigheimer Berg ( 482  m above sea level ) and others to the Steinbürg ( 426  m above sea level ), behind which the pouring ditch , which now flows in the Steigerwald, feeds its water on a long arc over the Bibart to the lower Ehebach.

The subsequent remnant of the total watershed in the north-east slopes down quite steadily to the Kleine-Ehe-estuary, beyond that , Hüßbach , Tiefenbach and finally the Ständlesgraben strive in a continuously shorter course that flows further up directly to the downstream Ehebach.

Slightly more than half of the catchment area, the low-lying central and southern part, is an almost completely open meadow landscape, in which, apart from the flat valley areas, the fields dominate. Around this part, apart from in the south, there is a fringe of mountain forests, which is quite wide, especially in the west and northwest.

Places and communities

The parish village of Krassolzheim (left at the confluence of the source streams), the parish village of Ingolstadt (mostly right) and the parish village of Ezelheim (left), which are all districts of Markt Sugenheim , lie one after the other along the course of the little marriage . The other places in the catchment area all belong to Markt Nordheim , they are one after the other Markt Nordheim itself (on both sides) and then the village of Kottenheim (left) on Geroldsbachs and the wasteland Seehaus a little southeast of Nordheim. Both market communities belong to the district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim .

Smaller unpopulated forest areas on the western edge of the catchment area also belong to the municipality of Weigenheim and Markt Ippesheim , like the other municipalities they are part of the district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim .

geology

The catchment area of the small marriage is entirely in the Keuper , for the most part the Gipskeuper ( grave field formation ) of the Mittelkeuper is the deepest layer ; only the Scheinberg cap reaches the overlying sandstone keuper. Probably as a result of a tectonic eyrie between two approximately west-north-west-south-south-east moving fault lines, a strip of Lettenkeuper ( Erfurt formation ) of the Unterkeuper runs through the lower layers of the central catchment area from Krassolzheim to south of Nordheim. The shallow hollow of the little marriage is already filled with a wide and flat band of Quaternary flood sediment from Krassolzheim .
