Košťany is located in the Hornosázavská pahorkatina ( hill country on the upper Sázava ) on the lower reaches of the Petrovický creek opposite its confluence with the Hostačovka. The Strážný vrch (511 m nm) rises to the south-east.

Neighboring towns are Vilémov and Ždánice in the north, Kraborovice in the northeast, Dálčice in the east, Pukšice, Uhelná Příbram and Petrovice u Uhelné Příbramě in the southeast, Leškovice in the south, Rybníček in the southwest, Hostovlice in the west and Klášter and Černáwest.

history

The village originally belonged to the property of the Benedictine monastery Wilmzell and came after the Hussite Wars to the Trčka von Lípa . Chosstiany was first mentioned in 1552 when Burian Trčka von Lípa sold the village together with Leškovice , Rybníček , Vohančice , Zábělčice and Frýdnava to Marianne Robenhaupt von Soutice ( Mariana Robmhápová ze Soutice ), who then sold the estate. In 1559 the purchase was entered in the land table . In 1566 she sold the Zábělčice estate with the six villages for 2600 shock Czech groschen to Jiří Mnětický of Mnětice. In 1580 Wenzel Robenhaupt from Sucha on Seč acquired the Zábělčice estate with the associated villages from King Rudolf II . In the same year he bought the town of Jeníkov from Albrecht Slavata von Chlum and Koschumberg and combined both goods.

From 1600 Kosstisstiany belonged to the Nové Vohančice fortress . When in 1638 the sons of Georg Robenhaupt from Sucha Nové Vohančice sold to the owner of Jeníkov, Maria Magdalena von der Goltz , Košťany was no longer part of the Nové Vohančice estate. Probably at that time the Příbram estate was added to the estate . In the middle of the 18th century, Wenceslaus Peter Dobrženský von Dobrženitz united the Úhrov , Nejepín and Příbram estates . In 1787 there were seven houses in Kosstisstian . Since Wenzel Peter Dobrženský had no descendants, he bequeathed his three estates to his brother Johann Joseph Dobrženský († 1796) in 1783. After reaching the age of majority in 1807, his sons shared their property in an inheritance comparison: Johann Wenzel Dobrženský received Dobřenice and Neděliště , his brother Prokop Úhrov, Nejepín and Příbram. In 1815 Prokop Dobrženský von Dobrženitz bequeathed the goods to his son Wenceslaus Peter.

In 1840 the village of Kosstisstan in the Caslauer Kreis consisted of 12 houses in which 84 people lived. There was an inn in the village. The parsonage was the monastery , the official seat in Auhrow . Until the middle of the 19th century Kosstisstan remained subordinate to the Auhrow estate, including Přibram and Negepin .

After the abolition of patrimonial Košťan formed from 1849 a district of the municipality Úhrov in the judicial district Chotěboř . From 1868 the place belonged to the district Chotěboř . In 1869 Košťan had 83 inhabitants and consisted of 14 houses. In 1876 a village school was built in Kraborovice , which the children from Košťan also attended. In 1900 there were 77 people in Košťan , in 1910 there were 74. In 1919 Kraborovice, Košťan and Dálčice broke away from Úhrov and formed the municipality of Kraborovice. Košťany has been used as an official place name since 1924 . In 1930 Košťany had 65 inhabitants and consisted of 15 houses. Since the territorial reform of 1960 the village has belonged to Okres Havlíčkův Brod . On January 1, 1976 Košťany was incorporated into Vilémov . In the 2001 census, 3 people lived in the 11 houses in the village. Today Košťany consists of 12 houses, none of which are permanently inhabited.
