Komarowski ( Russian Комаро́вский ) is a closed settlement in the Orenburg Oblast ( Russia ) with 8064 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The settlement is located about 350 km as the crow flies east- south- east of the Orenburg oblast administrative center and about 25 km from the state border with Kazakhstan , immediately south of the territory of the small town of Jasny . As a "closed administrative-territorial entity" (SATO) the settlement forms a separate city district (Gorodskoi okrug), the full area of the Rajons Jasnenski is enclosed.
history
The place emerged as a military settlement at a base of the Strategic Missile Forces of the Soviet Union as part of the town of Jasny from 1962. In 1972 it became an independent, secret urban-type settlement and initially had the code name Dombarowski-3 after the settlement Dombarowski located almost 40 km southwest . In 1994 the place was given the status of a "closed", but no longer secret, urban-type settlement under its current name in honor of the cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov , who died in 1967 with Soyuz 1 in the Orenburg Oblast, a good 40 km northwest of the place . Komarowski has been a rural settlement since 2011.

Economy and Transport
Local development it is the base Dombarowski the Strategic Missile Forces (RWSN) of the Russian armed forces with 30 west and north of the settlement distributed missile silos for R-36M - intercontinental ballistic missiles . The base is also used commercially under the name Kosmodrom Jasny . The cosmodrome is about 7 km north of Jasny and Komarowski.
Together with the city of Jasny, Komarowski has road and rail connections ( Gorny Ljon station , end point of a branch line 4 km southeast) in the direction of the city of Orsk, which is almost 100 km to the west .
