Alles oder Nix Records is a hip hop label from Bonn . It was founded in 2007 by rapper Xatar as an independent label . Initially, the Cologne-based company Groove Attack took over the distribution of the publications. Universal Music Germany has held this position since 2018 . The rappers SSIO , Schwesta Ewa , Eno and Samy are currently under contract with the label. In the past, Kalim was also bound by contract. With Groove Attack TraX , Xatar founded another label in cooperation with the distributor Groove Attack in 2018 , the administration of which runs through Alles or Nix Records . So far, Mero , Sero el Mero and Ra'is have published their music through the company. In addition, the songs by rapper Brado are released through a joint venture between Universal and Alles or Nix Records .

Foundation and first publications

Alles oder Nix Records was founded in 2007 by Xatar. According to the managing director, the idea for the platform had already existed ten years earlier, but failed due to the lack of financial resources. He was able to win Groove Attack as a sales partner . Samy and SSIO were the first artists to receive contracts with the label. When it was founded, they were " only influenced by the street, not by hip-hop, " Xatar later explained. For this reason, they have " long doubted whether this would work ". At the end of 2008, Alles oder nix was the label's first release. In addition to his label members Samy and SSIO, Azad appears on Xatar's solo album . The Federal Testing Office for Media Harmful to Young People indexed the album a year later, as they perceive seven songs "to have a brutal effect and incite violence. "

In 2011 Kalim and Schwesta Ewa were signed to the Bonn label. While Xatar was serving a prison sentence, he was already working on his second album, which he recorded with a voice recorder. No. 415 was released in spring 2012. At number 19, it was the first album to hit the charts. It also achieved respectable success in Austria and Switzerland. During the year Alles oder Nix Records also presented its artists Schwesta Ewa and SSIO. The latter published the Mixtape special material . Published 2013 All or Nothing Records SSIOs debut album BB.UM.SS.N . With 6th place, it was the first label release to reach the German Top 10. It also received positive reviews from music editors as well as from rappers like Sido . The hip-hop magazine Juice later called BB.UM.SS.N the " consensus album of the rap season twelve thirteen ". In 2014 Alles oder Nix Records limited itself to the release of Kalim's mixtape Sechs Kronen . Commercial breakthrough and musical reorientation

Xatar's third album Baba aller Babas marked the commercial breakthrough of the label Alles oder Nix Records . For the first time, a release placed at position 1 on the album charts. It took 3rd place in Austria and Switzerland. The single Mein Mantel in particular attracted attention. According to Die Zeit , the rapper became a “ meme ” with the “ coat metaphor ” . In early 2016 the label released 0.9 . With the second album SSIOs, Alles oder Nix Records again ranked number 1 in the charts. In other German-speaking countries it also landed in the top 10. Kalim's debut album Odyssee 579 and Samys EP Shäms followed , which lagged behind the successes of Xatar and SSIO.

Odyssey 579 already used a more modern sound image compared to the mixtape Sechs Kronen . This trend continued on the label's subsequent releases. In 2017, Kalim's second solo album Heir to the Throne was released , which instead of being based on the G-funk of West Coast hip-hop , followed popular trap music . With that he managed to reach number 7 on the album charts. Schwesta Ewa also turned away from the label's old school instrumentals, which had been popular up to now on her second album Aywa . For the first time, the rapper reached the top 10 in the charts.

In 2018, Xatar signed a contract with the Universal Music Group , which from now on will replace Groove Attack as the distributor for the artists from Alles or Nix Records . In autumn Alles oder Nix II appeared as the first publication of the cooperation. In addition , on the occasion of the tenth anniversary on the streaming portals and as a supplement to the box edition, he re-released his debut album, reduced by the indexed pieces. With Alles oder Nix II , Xatar again took number 1 in the album charts. In the summer, the rapper Eno was signed to Alles oder Nix Records . Expansion by Groove Attack TraX

2018 founded Xatar together with Groove Attack the company Groove Attack TraX . While the Cologne-based partner in the joint venture is responsible for sales, Alles oder Nix Records is responsible for the label administration and thus the product management for Groove Attack TraX . In addition, both parties are involved in the marketing. According to its own description, the company offers “ up-and-coming young artists an ideal environment to assert themselves in the music business of the future. In November 2018 his debut single Baller los was released , which reached number 1 in the charts in Germany and Austria. The following singles Hobby Hobby , Cloud 10 and Ferrari , a collaboration with Eno, also took first place in the charts. In the first 24 hours, the streaming service also recorded over 2.1 million views for Hobby Hobby , making the song a record in Germany. After the first four singles, all of which were awarded a gold record , Mero's debut album Ya Hero Ya Mero was released in March 2019 . In Germany as well as in Austria and Switzerland, the album entered position 1. 2019 presented Groove Attack TraX with Sero el Mero his second artist. His first album BabyFaceFlow was released in July . Mero's second album Unikat followed a month later . While BabyFaceFlow reached number 13 in the album charts, Mero was able to position himself again in the top 10 at number 4.

In addition to the presence with Groove Attack TraX , the main label released only two albums in 2019. In May, Eno's second album was released after signing his contract. Fuchs entered the top 10 of the German, Austrian and Swiss charts. At the end of September, Hash Hash, the first single from SSIO's third album, followed. Also in connection with the video, the song received positive reviews. Messios was released in December and entered the album charts at number 2. Schwesta Ewa's album Aaliyah followed in early 2020 .

As an independent label, Alles oder Nix Records received several awards from the Association of Independent Labels in the first few years. No. 415 and Kurwa each received the Impala Silver Award for over 20,000 units sold . The albums Baba aller Babas , BB.UMSS.N and 0.9 recorded over 40,000 sales, which entitled them to receive the Double Silver Award. criticism

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Alles oder Nix Records , Michael Rubach dealt with the development of the label for Hiphop.de. In 2007, Xatar founded a “project that was initially threatening to be silted up ”, which “ meanwhile had a lasting impact on gangsta rap in Germany ”.
