Kotte Autographs GmbH is a German antiquarian bookshop that deals in autographs .

history

Thomas Kotte (* 1968 in Füssen ) started collecting autographs from athletes and film stars as a teenager . From 1991 to 1996 he studied business administration and then worked as an antiquarian. In 1996 he founded  his company Kotte Autographs - initially in Stuttgart - which is now located in Roßhaupten .

Kotte Autographs specializes primarily in autographs. So far, 51 extensive catalogs have been published. In it, Kotte describes in detail the objects on offer that are primarily of source value for historical sciences. At the same time, however, he offers “beautiful examples” for collectors who “look for a special closeness to the person in handwriting”. Kotte is represented at important antiquarian fairs around the world, including in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Zurich, Ludwigsburg and Stuttgart.

The company is a member of the International League of Antiquaries , the Professional Autograph Dealers Association and the Association of German Antiquaries. Kotte works closely with the Viennese antiquarian bookshop Inlibris, Gilhofer Nfg. GmbH . According to Weltkunst , Kotte and Inlibris are “obliged to the classic antiquarian bookshop”, but not only serve the bibliophiles , but also the “relic collectors”.

Kotte Autographs is assigned to the “high price segment”. According to Bernhard Fischer, director of the Goethe and Schiller Archive in Weimar, Kotte Autographs is "known as an absolute pharmacy" by experts.

Kotte Autographs offered previously lost manuscripts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Ludwig van Beethoven , Joseph Haydn , Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach , Franz Kafka , Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen , Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , Heinrich Heine , Friedrich Schiller , Lucas Cranach the Elder. Ä. or Mick Jagger . In 2015, Kotte sold letters from Walter Scheel , in which he spoke about Willy Brandt , who had recently died in 1992 . In 2016, Kotte offered a first edition of the witch's hammer .
