Krásny Brod ( Russian Красный Брід / Krasnij Brid ; Hungarian Laborcrév - until 1907 Krasznibród ) is a municipality in the far east of Slovakia , with 491 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and belongs to the Okres Medzilaborce , a district of the Prešovský kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the upper Laborec valley on its right bank in the Laborecká vrchovina mountainous region, not far from the border with Poland . The town center is at an altitude of 305 m nm and is five kilometers south of Medzilaborce and 40 kilometers north of Humenné .
history
The place is said to have been founded by a group of geldings with their mayor in the early 15th century. The Greek Catholic monastery probably also dates from this period. The place is mentioned for the first time in 1478; he belonged to the estate of Humenné, which was owned by the Drugeth family . In 1828 there are 62 houses and 476 inhabitants.
The name literally means "beautiful ford".

Buildings
- Ruins of the Greek Catholic Monastery of the Coming of the Holy Spirit (Slovak monastier Zoslania Svätého Ducha ), probably built in the 14th or 15th century and destroyed in 1603, 1703–11 and 1915. In 2002 the new building of the monastery was completed and in 2008 a new church was added. Both plants are looked after by the Basilians .
