The Schwerin motorway junction (abbreviation: AK Schwerin ; short form: Schwerin cross ) is a motorway junction in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on the edge of the Hamburg metropolitan region . It connects the northern section of the federal highway 14 ( Wismar - Schwerin - Karstädt ) with the federal highway 24 ( Hamburg - Berlin ; Europastraße 26 ).
geography
The motorway junction is located in the municipal area of Wöbbelin in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district . The surrounding towns and communities are Neustadt-Glewe , Rastow and Banzkow . The closest districts are Fahrbinde on the Rastower side, Goldenstädt on the Banzkower side, Dreenkrögen on the Wöbbeliner area and Tuckhude on the Neustadt-Glewe area. It is located about 150 km north of Magdeburg , about 100 km east of Hamburg and about 170 km northwest of Berlin .
It was named after Schwerin, the state capital of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which is located around 25 km northwest of the cross.
The Schwerin motorway junction does not have a junction number on the A 14, but number 13 on the A 24. Before the Wismar-Schwerin autobahn was rededicated as the A 14 in 2006, the triangle at the end of the then A 241 had junction number 7.
history
The Schwerin triangle has existed since 1984, when the A 241, now the A 14, was built in the direction of Schwerin. On December 21, 2009, the last section of the northern A 14 between Schwerin and Wismar was opened to traffic.
With the further construction of the A 14 to the south, the expansion of the Schwerin triangle into a motorway junction became necessary. On November 1, 2012, the official start of construction of the extension of the A 14 to the new Grabow junction on Bundesstraße 5 .
On June 26, 2015, the Schwerin motorway junction was opened to traffic after a two-year conversion period. The southern branch of the A 14 towards Magdeburg was released on December 21, 2015.
Design and state of development
Both motorways have four lanes in this area. All connecting ramps are single-track.
The former motorway triangle was created as a left-hand trumpet with two-lane connecting ramps. After the renovation, the cross is designed as a clover leaf .
Traffic volume
The triangle (still at the time of measurement) was used by around 34,000 vehicles daily in 2015.
