Kreuzberg is a part of the local community Altenahr in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Ahrweiler .

location

Kreuzberg is located in the Ahr valley , bounded by the Ahrbrücker district Pützfeld in the south and the Altenahrer district Altenburg in the east.

It is framed by the elevations Ditschhardt ( 354  m above sea  level ) in the northeast, Lingenberg ( 242.6  m above sea level ) in the east, Pützberg ( 374.7  m above sea level ) in the southwest and Stauffenburg ( 277  m above sea level). NHN ) in the northwest.

The Ahr flows through Kreuzberg , into which the Sahrbach and Vischelbach also flow.

history

The place "Cruciberge" was mentioned as early as 893. It belonged to the property of the Prüm monastery. The ancestors of the later Counts of Are acquired it around 963.

On June 7, 1969, the previously independent community of Kreuzberg with 560 inhabitants was incorporated into Altenahr.

Anke Hupperich (FWG) became the mayor of Kreuzberg in 2019. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, she was elected for five years with 76.95% of the vote.

Hupperich's predecessor Christine Auster (SPD) had held the office since 2009.

The town is dominated by the Kreuzberg Castle with the St. Antonius Chapel.
