The name is derived from "crooked forest", whereby the addition crooked serves to distinguish it from other places called "forest" and refers to the layout of the place. It is a loose square village with a round hamlet core . In the 16th century, the manor was with the Bautzen council. A half-timbered house is still preserved. The pond, the Barbican and the sheep Hutung in Kronförstchen belonged from 1617 to 1661 with the Good Lubachau the property of the family of Zezschwitz . In 1773 the Malschwitz subsidiary property passed into the possession of the Lords of Gaussig .
Until April 1, 1936, Kronförstchen was an independent rural community; then it was incorporated into Quatitz. Since January 1, 1994, the entire Quatitz community has belonged to Großdubrau.
Archaeological finds and excavations
Archaeological finds from different epochs prove the early settlement of the area. A grave, a stone ax and a barrel-shaped ax made of lamprophyr , which were assigned to the Neolithic , were found around Kronförstchen . In addition, various vessels from a burial ground from the Bronze Age were discovered.
population
In 1925, Kronförstchen had 113 inhabitants; 111 of them were of Protestant denomination. The place has been parish to Quatitz since 1899 and previously belonged to the parish of Malschwitz .
For his statistics on the Sorbian population in Upper Lusatia, Arnošt Muka determined a population of 128 inhabitants in the 1880s; 118 of them were Sorbs (92%) and 10 were Germans. Since then, the proportion of Sorbian speakers in town has fallen sharply.
