Särchen , Upper Sorbian Zdźar ? / i , is a district of the community Großdubrau in the district of Bautzen in Saxony . The place belongs to the recognized Sorbian settlement area . Audio file / audio sample

geography

Särchen is located in Upper Lusatia in the Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape Biosphere Reserve . Surrounding villages are Göbeln in the north, Spreewiese in the east, Klix in the south, Sdier in the southwest and Commerau and Kauppa in the northwest.

The Saxon state road 101 runs through Särchen from Königswartha to Malschwitz . The federal highway 156 from Bautzen to Weißwasser runs just under a kilometer west of the town. The Särchen water flows through the village .

history

Särchen was first mentioned in 1419 as Serchin prope Clux . In the following years, the place name of changed Serichin (1454) about Sor (1488) and Serchin (1519) to Särchen in 1759. The place was from latest 1777 under the lordship of the manor corpse . Since the 17th century Särchen belongs to the parish Klix.

Until April 1, 1936 Särchen was an independent rural community, then the place was incorporated into Klix . On July 25, 1952, Särchen was assigned to the then newly formed district of Bautzen . After the reunification , Särchen was incorporated into the municipality of Klix in Großdubrau . For the district reform on August 1, 1994 Großdubrau was assigned to the old district of Bautzen . Since the district reform in Saxony on August 1, 2008 , Särchen has been part of the Bautzen district .

Population and language

For the year 1777, ten possessed men and eight cottagers were recorded in Sarchen. In 1834 the place had 124 inhabitants. By 1871 the population increased to 149 and remained constant until 1890. By 1910 the population had dropped to 139. In 1925 Särchen had 142 inhabitants, 141 of whom were Evangelical Lutheran and only one was Catholic .

For his statistics on the Sorbian population in Upper Lusatia, Arnošt Muka determined a population of 162 inhabitants for the year 1884; 160 of them were Sorbs (99%) and only two were Germans.
