Art Association Unna
The Kunstverein Unna e. V. was founded in 1968 and has been an integral part of the cultural scene in Unna ever since . The association is a member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Kunstvereine and belongs to the networks Kunstvereine Ruhr and KunstOrtUnna .
Purpose of the association
According to the statutes, the purpose of the association is
"To promote the creation of art, in particular to awaken knowledge of the contemporary arts and to arouse attention to them through the establishment of exhibitions of contemporary art, through lectures, through performances and excursions to exhibitions and art-historically important places."
history
In 1968 the art association was established by a group of art collectors chaired by Dieter Lohl. From 1976 to 2006 the club was led by Marijanne Fless . In 1982 she and her fellow board members Karl-Heinz Biller and Karl-Heinz Dröge organized the move to the old grain mill on Mühlenstrasse, where the association is still based today. In 2006 Agnes Pester (then Bonmann-Sobbe) took over the artistic direction. She was supported by Karl-Heinz Biller and Anne Katrin Peck . Friederike Mühlbauer and Martin Kesper have been on the board since 2014, and they will continue to run the association after Agnes Pester left in 2018.

In collaboration with the Unna Fröndenberg Holzwickede adult education center , excursions to art exhibitions are offered and, in collaboration with the Kinorama Unna, the film series Art and Cinema .
