Kyle Rau (born October 24, 1992 in Eden Prairie , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Minnesota Wild from the National Hockey League since July 2017 and at the same time for their farm team , the Iowa Wild , in the American Hockey League plays on the position of the center . His older brother Chad Rau is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Rau graduated from high school in 2011 with the Minnesota Mr. Hockey award for Best High School Player in the State of Minnesota . During the 2010/11 season, the striker moved to the United States Hockey League , where he played for the Sioux Falls Stampede. In the summer of 2011 he enrolled at the University of Minnesota , for whose ice hockey team he played the following four seasons in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and Big Ten Conference , both divisions in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In addition to numerous individual awards, Rau and the Gophers team won the Big Ten Conference championship at the end of the 2014/15 season.

After the attacker had already been selected in the third round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in 91st position by the Florida Panthers from the National Hockey League , they signed him in March 2015. For the remainder of the 2014/15 season , they use the American with the San Antonio Rampage , their farm team in the American Hockey League . In seven missions he collected three scorer points . The season 2015/16 then spent Rau at Florida's new representative Portland Pirates in the AHL before he was appointed in February 2016 for the first time in the NHL squad Panthers. He maintained this place even after the preparation for the season, so that he was in Florida's squad at the beginning of the 2016/17 season . At the end of December Rau was then assigned to the Springfield Thunderbirds in the AHL.

After the 2016/17 season, his expiring contract in Florida was not extended, so Rau joined the Minnesota Wild as a free agent in July 2017 .

International

Rau played for his home country at the U20 World Junior Championship 2012 in Canada . He finished seventh with the Americans. The striker was used in all six tournament games and scored five points. There were three gates below.
