The Staßfurt district was created with the reunification by renaming the Staßfurt district . On July 1, 1994, during the district reform of Saxony-Anhalt in 1994, it was divided into the districts of Aschersleben-Staßfurter district (main part), Bernburg , Bördekreis and Schönebeck .

With the first district reform in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, the main part of the district was merged with the Aschersleben district to form the new Aschersleben-Staßfurt district . The communities Atzendorf, Förderstedt and Löbnitz were incorporated into the district of Schönebeck , while the town of Güsten moved to the district of Bernburg . The city of Kroppenstedt was incorporated into the Bördekreis .
