In the 2005 state and local council elections , 68,151 people were eligible to vote in the Liesing constituency, with the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) emerging as the strongest party with 51.39%. The SPÖ achieved three of the six possible basic mandates in the election , and the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) each achieved one basic mandate.
