Langseite is a valley and location in the upper Schwarzatal in Lower Austria and belongs to the municipality of Rohr im Gebirge in the district of Wiener Neustadt-Land .

geography

The long side is a small, about 2½ kilometers Nebentalung of cells Bach located between Yoke ( 1266 m above sea level. A. ) in the north and size mountain ( 1102 m above sea level. A. ) northwestward to Cold Kuchl , the pass into the Gölsengebiet draws . It is located around 3½ kilometers southwest of the municipality's capital, Rohr in the mountains . The water of the valley is led as a long-sided channel, the valley covers a catchment area of 2.2 km².

The scattered houses on the long side are just a few houses in the valley, including the Feuchtner, Steinhäufler, Lindner and Gruber farms .

Longseite also includes a remote location of the community, the houses Naglreith (2 addresses) and Werasöd at the southern foot of the Hegerberg , which belong to the area of the Green Schwarza , one of the source streams of the Schwarza. It is separated from the main valley by the location on the Kalten Kuchl, which belongs to Kleinzell . The corridors of the Talung there are called In der Grün not far from the Kalten Kuchl and Werasöder meadows downstream of the stream.

History and infrastructure

Since it is assumed that Schwarzau was primarily settled from Kleinzell in the High Middle Ages, the long side is the old “gateway” into the upper Schwarzatalungen.

Gutensteiner Straße (B21, Wr. Neustadt - Mariazell ) leads over the long side - Kalte Kuchl - Naglreith / Werasöd , a route of the pilgrimage, which has been important since the 12th century.

Werasöd (long side No. 6), an old hooked courtyard with a crooked roof and bell tower, is mentioned in the Dehio as a characteristic cultural asset, but is noticeably deteriorating.
