The forward-Sun class is a former coaster class of the Hamburg shipping company HH Wübbe Nachf. The one on the Roßlauer shipyard ships built are now at various other cruise lines moving.

history

Originally ten ships of the class had been ordered ( construction numbers 231 to 240), of which only the first six were built from 1991 to 1993 for one-ship companies of the Hamburg company HH Wübbe Nachf. The construction of the ships and five other coasters for the shipping company Bockstiegel in Emden saved the shipyard , which had got into economic difficulties after German reunification . The ships were chartered by the Hamburg shipbroker company Walter Lass.

The Lass Sun capsized on December 20, 1997 as a result of a collision with the Russian cargo ship Valentin Pikul in the Skagerrak northeast of Skagen ( ). The ship was on a voyage with fertilizers from Klaipėda in Lithuania to Teesport in the United Kingdom . The ship's captain was killed in the accident and the other five crew members were rescued. The ship was declared a total loss. The wreck , which remained buoyant, was sold in early 1998. In February of that year it was recovered and towed to Grenaa . It was later sold again and repaired in Sæby from June to December 1998 . The ship was brought back into service as Nyholm .

The other ships in the series were sold in 2007 and 2008, respectively. The ships built as Lass Sun and Lass Saturn were later rebuilt and equipped with an excavator, which is installed on a device similar to a hatch car and can be moved over the entire length of the hatches. The former Lass Sun was at times also equipped with a conveyor system so that the ship could be used as a supplier for offshore fish farms.

description

The drive of the vessels carried by two Z-Drive by two Cummins - Diesel engines are driven (to use the engine model KT came 19 and KT 38). The engines were located in the aft area behind the facilities for the ship's crew. The engines initially had an output of 597  kW each . They were later throttled to a total output of 600 kW. The motors act on the propellers via reduction gears. The speed of the ships is around 10  knots .

Two generator sets as well as an emergency and harbor generator set are available for generating electricity. The generator sets are each driven by a Cummins diesel engine (type: 6BT5.9 G2 or 4B3.9 G). The ships are equipped with an electrically powered bow thruster with 100 kW output.

The deck superstructures are located in the rear of the ships. They consist of flat structures and a separate bridge that is hydraulically height-adjustable. In addition, the two ship masts can be folded under bridges. There is a 47.4 meter long and 9 meter wide hold in front of the superstructure . The height of the room is 6 meters. The room, which has a capacity of 2,550 m³, is closed by hydraulically operated hatch covers with six panels. The front and rear two hatch covers are designed as folding hatch covers, the two in the middle as roller hatch covers. The rolling hatch covers can be pulled along by the folding hatch covers and are then in front of the folding hatch covers when the hatches are open. Alternatively, they can be disconnected and left on the hatch coaming.

The ships are equipped with two bulkheads that can be erected in seven positions.
