Laura Pape (born October 13, 1993 in Hanover ) is a German author . She was best known for her autobiographical book about her fight against anorexia .

biography

Laura Pape grew up in Garbsen in the Hanover region . In her hometown she attended the Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium Berenbostel . An internship at the Leine-Zeitung Garbsen, a local newspaper of the Madsack publishing company , which she completed in the 10th grade , reinforced her desire to become a writer.

After the 11th grade, she had to leave high school for a hospital stay because of anorexia . She defeated anorexia and processed her experiences with the disease in 2013 in her first book Hungry for Life - My Way Out of Anorexia . A special feature of her autobiography is the positive ending in which she traces her recovery path. Pape wrote the book to encourage other sufferers and to educate their relatives about the psychosomatic illness.

She then did an apprenticeship as a businesswoman for dialogue marketing at the Madsack media group. At the same time she worked as a freelancer in the young ZiSH editorial team of the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung .

In 2015, Pape published her second book and her first novel, Scharfe Schokolade . It deals with the topics of love, friendship, eroticism and sex.

In 2015, Pape began an editorial traineeship in corporate communications at the radio station Radio 21 . She lives in Garbsen.

Online petition

At the beginning of 2014, Pape started a petition on the online platform Change.org . In the petition, she called on Heidi Klum and ProSieben to educate people about the dangers of eating disorders and malnutrition in the casting show Germany’s Next Top Model . Over 16,000 people signed the petition, whereupon the casting show placed a link on the ProSieben website to a prevention page of the Federal Ministry of Health . Her book publication and petition attracted the attention of the press such as Bild-Zeitung , Werben & Sellers , dieStandard.at and Die Welt , Pape was invited to numerous television programs.
