Lauren Fagan

Lauren Fagan (* in Sydney ) is an Australian opera and concert singer with a soprano voice .

Life

Youth and education

Lauren Fagan was born and raised in Sydney and took her first singing lessons at the end of high school . She studied business administration in her home country before studying singing with Susan Waters at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2012/2013 . During her training, she sang Micaela in Bizet's Carmen , the title role in Janáček 's Jenůfa , the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss , Natasha in Sergei Prokofiev's War and Peace , the Vitellia in Mozart's La clemenza di Tito , the Alice in Giuseppe Verdi's Falstaff , Fiordiligi in Mozart's Così fan tutte and the First Lady in Mozart's Magic Flute . Towards the end of her studies she was a member of the Glyndebourne Festival Choir, with whom she sang in Verdi's La traviata , Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin and Mozart's Don Giovanni and gave the role of Annina in La traviata . She also played the role of Lia in Debussy's L'enfant prodigue the Barbican Center and the Blue Fairy in Jonathan Dove's The Adventures of Pinocchio , participated in the Banff Summer Arts Festival in Canada in the role of Mrs Coyle in Benjamin Britten's opera Owen Wingrave part , sang Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen and appeared in the Australian premiere of Jake Heggie's opera Dead Man Walking .

Career

From 2014 to 2016 Fagan was able to participate in the Jette Parker Young Artists Program at the Royal Opera House in London. During this period she gave the Oscar in Verdi's Un ballo in maschera , the Giulia in La scala di seta by Gioachino Rossini , the Gianetta in L'elisir d'amore by Gaetano Donizetti , the Girl in the Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny by Kurt Weil , Papagena in Mozart's Magic Flute , Lila in The Firework-Maker's Daughter by David Bruce , Lovers in Il tabarro by Giacomo Puccini , Sister Genovieffa in Puccini's Suor Angelica and Ines in Verdi's Il trovatore . She had the opportunity to work with conductors such as Nicola Luisotti , Gianandrea Noseda , Sir Mark Elder , Daniel Oren , Christian Curnyn , Cornelius Meister , Daniele Rustioni and Ivor Bolton .

In the 2016/2017 opera season she made her debut as Musetta in La Bohème by Puccini with the Welsh National Opera across the UK and on tour in Dubai , and sang Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni for Opera Holland Park in London and Verbier Festival 2016.

In the 2017/2018 opera season in Rome she performed as Roxana in concert performances of the opera Król Roger by Karol Szymanowski at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia , conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano , and gave Donna Elvira in Mozart's Don Giovanni with the NHK Symphony Orchestra under Paavo Järvi , the Agnès sang in the opera Written on skin of George Benjamin with the Melos Sinfonia under Oliver Zeffman in London and St. Petersburg , and returns to the Opera Holland Park in London back in her debut as Verdi's heroine Violetta in La traviata .

The highlights of her concert career so far include her participation in the Last Night of the BBC Proms in Ralph Vaughan Williams' choral work Serenade to Music, conducted by Sakari Oramo , in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem with the BBC Singers under David Hill and in Bachianas Brasileiras by Heitor Villa -Lobos with the Philharmonia Orchestra.
