The Legio II Brittannica was a legion of the Roman army, which probably during the existence of the British special empire (287-296) by the opposing emperors Carausius or Allectus from the mobile part of the Legio II Augusta , which under the command of the Comes litoris Saxonici per Britanniam in Rutupiae (Richborough) stood, as an independent Comitatenseseinheit was separated. The Legion's emblem has not survived.

The Legio II Brittannica was probably divided in the 4th century and was subordinate to the Magister Peditum Praesentalis ( Magister militum ) of the Western Roman Empire in the early 5th century as Secunda Britannica in Gaul . and as Legio Secundani Brittones (or Brittaniciani) the Magister equitum Galliarum . As Secundani iuniores , they may also appear in the Notitia Dignitatum as a unit under the command of the Comes Britanniarum . Their connection with the Legio II Brittannica is viewed as controversial.
