Legio X Veneria

The Legio X Veneria was a legion of the Roman army that was founded around the middle of the 1st century BC. BC by Gaius Iulius Caesar was established. The Legion's name was derived from the goddess Venus , who Caesar viewed as his mythical first mother. The legion emblem was believed to be a bull. After the Battle of Philippi in October / November 42 BC. The Legion was dissolved and the veterans settled near Cremona and Brescia .

The legion was only handed down by an inscription by name: C (aius) Lanius / C (ai) f (ilius) Ani (ensi) de / leg (ione) X Vener (ia) C (aius) Lanius C (ai) l ( ibertus) / Eros filius / de suo
