Lewis Trondheim (born December 11, 1964 in Fontainebleau , real name Laurent Chabosy ) is a French comic artist and founding member of the L'Association publishing house . He is married to Brigitte Findakly (who colored some of his albums), has two children and lives with his family in Montpellier , France, where he also works.

The pseudonym of the Norwegian city of Trondheim explains Lewis Trondheim itself as follows: "As a surname, I wanted a city name, but Lewis Bordeaux or Lewis Toulouse did not sound so good. That's when I remembered this city, Trondheim ... Maybe one day I'll publish an album under my real name in order to remain unrecognized. "

Works

Trondheim has published over a hundred of its own works since 1990 . In France, most of his albums are published by L'Association . The publishing house was founded in May 1990 by Trondheim and the French comic artists Jean-Christophe Menu , David B. , Patrice Killoffer , Mattt Konture , Stanislas and Mokeït .

Trondheim's work has been translated into many languages, including English , Japanese and German .

In Germany, Trondheim became known with the comic series Mr. Hase's hair-raising adventures . The hero Mr. Rabbit and his friends and enemies (all drawn in funny animal format) experience all kinds of strange, absurd, fantastic and philosophical adventures in a variety of sometimes connected scenarios . The dialogues in particular received a lot of praise and attention from the critics. The first French volume, "Lapinot et les Carottes de Patagonie" (in German about "Mr. Hase and the carrots of Patagonia " ) has not yet appeared outside of France because of its gigantic size of over 500 pages, according to statements from Trondheim itself it is for the foreseeable future A German publication is not to be expected either.

His other internationally known series, which has also been translated into German, is Donjon , a parody of the fantasy genre produced together with Joann Sfar in epic length and several cycles, of which 36 volumes have been published in German so far. Since 2011 he has been producing another fantasy series with Ralph Azham , which is very similar to Donjon, but takes place in a different fantasy world.

Trondheim's comic figure Die Fliege (the comic about it is without words) gave rise to the production of a cartoon that was shown in Germany on public television as part of the program Sendung mit der Maus und Käpt'n Blaubär Club . Another film adaptation of his comic series was made with the 26-part animated film series Kaput & Zösky , which was previously only shown in German-speaking countries on the pay TV channel Junior and briefly on ORF 1.

Trondheim also writes and draws on a large number of projects, both alone and in cooperation with other illustrators and authors.
