Lhünzê ( Lhüntse ) is a district in the Shannan Administrative District in the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China . It has an area of ​​9,894 square kilometers and according to the 1990 census 28,968 inhabitants, of which 28,776 Tibetans and 107 Han Chinese; the rest of the population belongs mainly to the Lhoba people . (2000 census: 32,184 inhabitants).

The east of Lhünzê County is claimed by the Chinese government as part of their territory, but is de facto under the control of India , where this area is part of the state of Arunachal Pradesh .
