The Autonomous District Muli Tibetan Autonomous County is located in the Liangshan Yi, in the Chinese province of Sichuan . Muli has an area of 13,252 km² and approx. 130,000 inhabitants (2003). Its administrative seat (main town) is the large municipality of Qiaowa.
Administrative structure
At the community level, Muli is composed of one large community, twenty-three communities and five nationality communities:
- Greater community Qiaowa (乔瓦镇);
- Wachang municipality (瓦 厂 镇), formerly Tarba municipality (桃 巴 乡);
- Greater community Chabulang (茶布朗镇);
- Greater community Yalong River (雅砻江镇), formerly parish Migdoirang (麦地龙乡);
- Baisi municipality (麦 日 乡);
- Boikü municipality (博科 乡);
- Community Bo'og (博窝乡);

- Community Housuo (后所乡);
