Lichtenberg is a district of Morsbach in the Oberbergischer Kreis in southern North Rhine-Westphalia within the administrative district of Cologne .

Location and description

In a rural, wooded area, Lichtenberg is located at the southernmost tip of the Oberbergischer Kreis. The next larger cities are Gummersbach (28 km), Siegen (35 km) and Cologne (70 km).

Neighboring districts are Springe in the north, Rome in the east, Böcklingen in the south, and Überasbach in the west.

Spelling of the first mention: Lichtenberg

The name Lichtenberg means something like "light mountain" or a "settlement cleared from the light". Around 1500 there was a farm owned by Hütten-Hermann and his wife Gertrud von Lichtenberg. Their son Hermann von Lichtenberg sold the farm to the Catholic Church in 1523 . In 1602 Lichtenberg counted nine Bergisch fireplaces , which means nine times four people.

Events

Spring concert Every year in spring the music association presents a colorful program. Concert marching music, classical music, modern light music and much more will be performed.

Thanksgiving festival : The annual harvest festival with parade takes place on the second weekend in September and attracts many visitors from the area.

Fire brigade festival: takes place every year on the 2nd weekend in June.

Bazaar : On the last weekend before the first Advent, kfd Lichtenberg organizes a Christmas bazaar in the parish hall.
