Ensembles
Old town Lohr am Main
The ensemble ( location ) encompasses the city of Lohr am Main to the extent of its medieval walling, including the immediate area in front of the fortifications and the fishing suburb to the southeast. - The town of Lohr am Main is built on a ridge rising between two tributaries of the Main and thus differs from the typical "Main towns", which mostly develop parallel to the river in the valley floor, both in terms of its location in the area and in its corresponding settlement structure . The city is made up of three clearly distinguishable settlement elements: the church district, the township and the fishing suburb . Despite being first mentioned relatively late (1296), both the place name and the original St. Martin's patronage of the parish church suggest that Lohr was founded in the early Middle Ages. The church district on the head of the spur on the river side is to be addressed as the core of the settlement. This first settlement, as the curved course of Kleine Kirchgasse and Turmstrasse suggest, was fortified like a castle; a castle existed here until the 17th century. It was replaced by the construction of the Capuchin monastery. In the middle of the district rises the town parish church, which is in the core of the High Middle Ages, around it are grouped the parsonages, the Capuchin monastery that was built during the Counter-Reformation and the old schoolhouse. The church district had its own fortification, which is reminiscent of the late Gothic gatehouse to Kleine Kirchgasse. The west subsequent Bürgerstadt shows all the characteristics of high medieval foundations: It develops along a ridge to the following, west-facing eastern main road in the middle of the square, the town hall bearing marketplace expands. In the east it branches off from the short through road parallel to the Main, which cuts through the city at its narrowest point, and in the west it joins the country road into the Spessart (to Aschaffenburg). Narrow side streets connect the main street with the two side streets that run roughly parallel to it; the north-west corner is occupied by the castle, which was the seat of the Counts of Rieneck until 1559 , then until the secularization of the Mainz office building. The development of the main street consists of stately town houses in half-timbered construction; the massive ground floors often show rich sandstone portals from around 1600; The town hall, which marks the center of the complex, also dates from the same period. Small house construction prevails in the side streets. The township and church district were uniformly walled in the 14th century after the town charter was granted (1333). The last monumental witness of this defense is the city tower at the former Niedertor. Outside the wall, at the foot of the church hill, is the fishing suburb, which can be referred to as the best preserved suburban settlement of fishermen and shipbuilders in Main Franconia. Originally, it had its own fencing, as evidenced by the parcel management and the fishing gate. It consists of two multi-curved and almost parallel lanes that merge like a square at the former Niedertor. It shows small-scale row development, the core of which goes back to the 16th century. Boundaries: Seeweg, Mainkai, footpath at the driveway to the old bridge, Obere Brückenstraße (northern Ran), rear border of the properties Turmstraße 10 and Grabenstraße 2-18 (even numbers), Anlagestraße (northern edge), Brauereistrasse (eastern edge), Grafen -von-Rieneck-Strasse (eastern edge), Haagstrasse (southern edge). File number: E-6-77-155-1.
Steinbacher Strasse
The ensemble in the Steinbach ( Lage ) district includes Dorfstrasse, with the castle area on the east side and the parish church area on the west side. The monumental buildings that define the townscape were built under Franz Christoph von Hutten and reflect his prince-bishop's dignity: the church from 1719 by Joseph Greising , the castle from 1725–28 by Balthasar Neumann . The castle includes parts of the previous building from the 16th century and the walled castle park. The village is subordinate to the monumental buildings with one- and two-storey buildings mainly from the 18th century. The village street widens to a small space in front of the Hutten forest house. Boundary: Steinbacher Strasse 1, 3, 4–18, 22, 24, 26, 28, von-Hutten-Strasse 2, Hofgartenstrasse 1–3. File number: E-6-77-155-2.
City fortifications
The city fortifications, which included the town and the church district, were laid out with quarry stone masonry in the 14th and 15th centuries. Sections of the fortification wall are preserved in the east (around the church district), in the north (mostly built in here), in the northwest (around the castle) and fragments in the south. Parts of the kennel wall still exist in the east and northwest. Of the original three main gates (Lohrtor, Obertor, Niedertor) only the tower of the Niedertor (city tower) has been preserved. The area in front of the fortification can still be seen on the east and north side as a steep slope, in the south it was converted into a park in the late 19th century. The bricked-up coat of arms stones may come from the broken gates. A square turret with a pyramid roof has been preserved on the east side. Remains of quarry stone with five semicircular shell towers have been preserved from the kennel wall; in parts it is built over. File number: D-6-77-155-3.

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
